... And I have my keyboard back!

After the upgrade to natty I uninstalled now-local package mediainfo, but this had been added into my unity launcher bar (automatically). So after mediainfo was gone that button was just a grey-boxed "?".

I attempted to remove it by right-click, uncheck "Keep in Launcher".

The desktop froze for a few seconds (maybe as much as a minute; then the window manager died, taking with it the top panel and the unity launcher and the window furniture. And apport offered up this bug to submit.

And keyboard entry wouldn't work; hence logging into launchpad and entering the original report using the Character Map application and promising more here!

NB: Keyboarding ctrl-alt-F1 to get to console 1 to restart gdm *did* work, but any text entry into the desktop didn't.
