Wubi download times are enormous

I am trying to download Ubuntu to my laptop and wish to install it via Wubi. The installer itself downloads promptly but the download times for downloading Ubuntu are enormous, I am typically quoted 430 hours or more! If I try to download the Ubuntu disc image via ubuntu.com my browser quotes a download time of 23 minutes or less. Something seems to be wrong with the servers that Wubi downloads Ubuntu from.
