Hello Nicolas, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and help us make Ubuntu better!

Can you please provide the output of the following commands in a terminal:

apt-cache policy openssh-server

apt-cache policy openssh-client

Also, you may be able to resolve this issue by running

sudo apt-get update

Please try that, and then try installing openssh-server again.

Marking Incomplete pending response from Nicolas.

Even use apt-get update, this cannot work, when in create this bug.

I found the solution to install the package with aptitude which proposed to downgrade the openssh-client package.

But, now, the new version is avalaible : openssh-server 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu5.

So i think you can close the bug.

Even this isn't use, this is the results of asked commands

Nicolas, thanks for the response. This does in fact just seem to be a case of the mirrors being out of sync temporarily. Closed as Invalid.

Hello Chris,

As i have say, you have take the good decision to close with little problem.

But, I don't think this problem is invalid , this problem seems corrected but has existed. So i think the status must be "Fix Released" and not "Invalid".

Even this problem was shortly corrected, on the root servers or on the mirror. It can be interessant to save this to make statistics and to consequently to correct the process which have create it.

And if this desync is an exception, i think this is a bad idea to make as this isn't exist.

So this decision must be take by the launchpad team, i let you choice.

Best regard,
Nicolas

The reason it is Invalid is that it was the archive, working the way the
archive is designed to work. The system has known and accepted issues
with consistency which allow it to scale the way it does.

In any case, it wasn't actually a bug in the openssh package. If there is a Launchpad or mirroring issue to be addressed, that should be a separate bug task.

Yes, it's true, so i let this bug in this state, except if you think that i should create another issue, or change the affected package ...
