Bug Description

Whenever I use the fill tool, Inkscape crashes. The same error appears:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Any ideas what I can do to fix the problem? It is a new issue and I am using Windows 7.

Could you check the current settings for the paint bucket tool in its controls bar right above the canvas:
What is the current value for 'Grow/Shrink by:'?
Does it still crash if you reset the options to default values (using the last button on the controls bar)?

Possibly related:
Bug #587769 “Paint Bucket: Upper/lower value in context menu of Glow/shrink are unrealistic”

Changed in inkscape:

Hmm. Have found the problem, thanks to your prompting. The, "Grow/shrink by," was set to 1,000,000 %. Have returned it to a much smaller figure and the problem has gone away.

Many thanks for your help.

Thank you for testing and reporting back. I will link your report as duplicate to bug #587769 since (AFAICT) more sensible limits for the 'Grow/shrink' spin box could have prevented this type of dysfunctional tool settings.
