Bug Description

When I plug in the HDMI cable of my Syncmaster 2032mw monitor, nothing happens. Changing the display in Nvidia settings doesn't change anything either, although the display is listed after hitting 'detect displays'.

The image is then distributed over two displays (because my mouse can get 'lost'), but one of them is blanked (on standby, while it should lit up). Do you want me to send all of the log-files again? How do I do this without opening a new bug?

Best regards,

Stéphane

Well... with twinview enabled I should have one image over two desktops, but the monitor that is connected via HDMI gives no image at all (so I have half a desktop).
What I actually want is just one screen that works and the other one disabled (because the screens aren't of the same size), but the one via HDMI is always turned off no matter what I do.

Best regards,

Stéphane

I hve the exact same problem in both 10.04 32bit and 11.10 64bit. I also own a Compaq Presario with a NVidia Geforce 8200M.

A detail which may be of some importance, according to the driver search on the NVIDIA website, there aren't any drivers for the 8200M. The linux drivers which seem to work perfectly (apart from the HDMI situation) are made for 8200M - and for pretty much any other NVIDIA graphic card.

I have no idea why this is, or if there's any way one might complain.

So, yes, same here, HDMI port sends no signal under ubuntu.

Has anyone made any progress on this?

I'm trying to set up my sister's computer with working HDMI, but if this doesn't work I might have to install windows on it again...

That version is no more supported; please open a new bug report if the actual archive found version also has the same issue.
