Bug Description

Binary package hint: abiword

I frequently "enhance" tables by modifying row color, usually to a light gray. For portability, I always use RTF, so I can't say if this affects other formats. When I open the document, the colored rows always show up as solid black, thus making them completely illegible.
Additionally, in any table, the rows are separated by a full line.
Running Lucid Lynx/Ubuntu 10.04, fully updated
Package: Abiword 2.8.2-2ubuntu1.1
I'll try to attach screenshots of proper rendering (Ted--Softmaker Office also renders properly) and Abiword.

In case anyone's wondering, here's proper display; the command setting color is \clcfpat25, and the color table is as follows:

\red77\green77\blue77;
\red51\green51\blue51;
\red220\green220\blue220;
}
The last line is the relevant one, and the color is #DC/DC/DC.

ibidem, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please attach the RTF file whose table row color when light gray, saved, then re-opened, changes to solid black?

Not exactly the same file, but another that shows the same issue--and another bug with regards to "right-align".
I forget what word processor I last used to save it, but the tarball also includes versions saved in AbiWord in both RTF and abw (lab4_ab.rtf and lab4.abw)

ibidem, this issue is unreproducible in LibreOffice Writer via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/abiword/+bug/719764/+attachment/2133267/+files/lab4.tar.bz2 && file-roller -h lab4.tar.bz2 && cd lab4 && lowriter -nologo lab4.rtf

typed a few characters, saved the file, closed it, reopened:

lowriter -nologo lab4.rtf

the rows remained gray. Does this work for you?

I think you misunderstood the issue. It's the appearance in Abiword (2.8.2/Lucid) that is causing trouble; it's not what the saved file looks like in other software.
I do not think the bug affects libreoffice in any way, and would suggest marking it as invalid for libreoffice.

ibidem, no misunderstanding exists. We focus on the problem and the software so that all software that perform similar functions (in this case AbiWord, LibreOffice, and WINE) can benefit.

This issue is confirmed in Ubuntu 11.04, AbiWord via the Terminal:

cd ~/Desktop && wget https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/abiword/+bug/719764/+attachment/2133267/+files/lab4.tar.bz2 && file-roller -h lab4.tar.bz2 && cd lab4 && abiword lab4.rtf

notice certain rows in the table are black. However, in Word 2003 via WINE and LibreOffice Writer the rows are gray.

I can now confirm that this affects upstream Abiword 2.9.0 and should be reported there, which I will do.
