Bug Description
Binary package hint: parcellite
I lobbied to get Parcellite as a default application at work, where it is now being used on hundreds of workstations daily.
I have a feature request:
Provide an option in Parcellite's preferences menu for "Auto Trim".
I find myself copying and pasting a lot of different information that is coming from web sites and web based work applications (which do not always reveal whitespace you are highlighting before doing a copy). Often, when copying (as accurately as the eye can see) copied-text will later be pasted and reveal that it is "encapsulated in undesired whitespace" such as spaces, tabs, and line-breaks.
I wish I could get Parcellite to trim that white space from the beginning and end of each thing I copy or cut. It would save us so much time for most things. Even if this wouldn't be a default option, it would be one a lot of people would discover and use if it were available in the preferences.
Plus, the feature seems simple to add to Parcellite (from a developer's perspective).
