Simple Backup Suite 0.11.3 on Ubuntu 10.10 installed through the Ubuntu Software Centre

I actually resolved the problem. My network drive had an ftp password with the "@" symbol in it, which apparently messed up Simple Backup's ability to make a proper path to connect to it. I'm not especially stupid, but you might want to try to catch that error if the path has more than one "@" symbol in it.
