Bug Description

I'm using the latest 11.02.13 and even though the temperature seems to be displayed ok, Indicator Weather displays an "Error retrieving condition" message. See this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/avUZr.png

On this release we are relying on data from NOAA. Sometimes an empty data is returned - and we are unable to do anything to do something about this. When data caching will be implemented, we shall display previous state - but for now this error will be displayed.

Error with forecast for US units has been fixed - fix will be uploaded in a short period.

I'm not using US units... actually US units work just fine here.

And you say "Sometimes an empty data is returned" but for me that's all the time.

Actually, NOAA data is being updated once in 15 minutes - I guess, correct condition should be picked up.
indicator-weather-11.02.13_maverick2 contains a fix for forecast exception (though, it is not related to 'error condition').

If condition is still 'Error retrieved condition', please attach a log file ~/.cache/indicator-weather.log or try 'apport-collect 718053'

Yes, the forecast was fixed but I still get "Error retrieving condition" - this never seems to have worked, so I'll attach indicator-weather.log

After a log analysis, NOAA returns empty data and there is nothing we can do about it. After some refresh the data may appear - but now it in NOAA hands.

The only thing which can possibly be done is making the 'Error retrieving conditions' text more clear - got any ideas?

What is it supposed to display - if I don't get this error, what would be there? I see all the info there except that his error shows up too - and it wouldn't bother me so much if it wouldn't break the pretty icon too - because of this error, there's a gray question mark icon displayed for the appindicator.

Here is a sample image - http://imgur.com/9m0Rr. You may try adding other locations - I hope, they will be displayed correctly.

That's the thing... it looks exactly the same for me (all the data is there) except there is also an "error retrieving condition" in the indicator and a broken appindicator image... but the rest is there: http://imgur.com/64nbP

Changing the location didn't help.

Icon to be displayed is selected from condition, so the special icon for 'empty condition' is displayed.
The problem is in eliminating 'empty condition' situation - but for now this is impossible. The only workaround is to wait for NOAA to update their data.

NOAA page actually shows empty value in "Weather" column - compare with
http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/current/UMMS.html

Hmm ok, i see.
But the legacy weather applet does not have this problem, does it use a different weather service?

I have no idea what the default weather applet in Maverick uses, but I've never had this problem...

GWeather applet uses weather.com, which is a much more reliable data source.
But for now this libgweather doesn't have a python binding to get weather
data - it is planned for version 3.0, so when Gnome 3 will be released, this
source will be used as primary, and NOAA as a fallback.

The issue is solved by using Google and Yahoo as weather data providers.
Check 'Unstable builds' PPA in Weather Indicator Team for a new version with the fix
