system update doesn't finish, errors encountered

1) Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS
2) Version 1:0.134.11 (update-manager)
3) I pressed the "check" button to check for updates like always
4) Instead the download of the packages didn't finish and ended with errors. I tried repeating the same step over and over again but with the same results.
