Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

When you open a tab or new window that plays some form of audio then close the tab/window but firefox is still running the audio is frozen. Trying to play something in beep-media-player, totem, etc. does not work while any instance of firefox is still running after playing audio.

Might be just me, wasn't sure. I've recently done a fresh install of Ubuntu Edgy and have only had the issue since I did the fresh install. Had no issues after an upgrade to Edgy but I had other issues with the upgrade that I didn't want to fix so I did a fresh install. Then this issue arose.

Is this still an issue for you? We are trying to trying sort out the older Mozilla issues and would like to know if this still happens.

Yes. Since I've posted this I've downgraded to Dapper from Edgy. While it doesn't happen quite as often here it does happen from time to time under Dapper as well. It has gotten to the point where it seems to be more of an issue with flash since this was posted however. I've had times where the video audio just cut out randomly for two seconds and started playing again and other instances where 2-3 seconds after it starts the video will completely stop. So if you guys don't really do anything with flash I would say forget about this because it really seems like an issue with the new Flash 9 Beta.

Can you give me 3 examples of what sites it happens on/what file types these are?

I've had it happen on MySpace (all of their flash advertisements I think are the culprit), YouTube when I feel like watching a few videos (again flash based). Those are the only two that I really visit that are flash websites. I rarely have flash enabled on any other sites these days. Just something I got used to from it happening repeatedly. I'll enable it again for random surfing and see if I can't find another one. Once it would happen though, if I killed all instances of Firefox I would once again be able to hear sounds without a problem.

Hi, your original report was against the edgy distribution. I was
wondering if you are still experiencing this issue. edgy support is
being end-of-lifed.
