Natty daily 20110210

Ubuntu 10.10 and Mac OS X install fine on the same computer.

I'm becoming increasingly convinced there is a problem with your CD drive. The following is from the syslog you posted:

It was indeed a problem with the CD drive; Ubuntu Natty was apparently just more sensitive to it.

However, it seems rather unfortunate that the kernel knows it's a hardware error but Ubiquity does not. It would be more useful (not to mention making Ubuntu seem more reliable) if Ubiquity itself could say "Hey, there's a problem with this drive".
