Bug Description

Video playback doesn't work in gnome-mplayer, only a black screen is presented (audio works).

Video playback works fine in mplayer (even running it multiple times), but it doesn't work any more after running gnome-mplayer (again only a black window is displayed). After rebooting video with mplayer works again.

Here are some details, I'd be happy to do more testing if needed:

This bug concerns the versions in https://launchpad.net/~gma500/+archive/emgd, i.e.

emgd-dkms 1.5.15.3082-0ubuntu1~ppa4
emgdui 1.0-1.2.0~ppa1
gnome-mplayer 0.9.9.2-2~maarten8ppa10.10+1
mplayer 2:1.0~rc4+svn20110127-0+ppa10.10+8
xorg-emgd 1.5.15.3082-0ubuntu1~ppa7

dmesg shows the same output when running mplayer or gnome-mplayer (independently if video is working or not).

I think that I have the same issue, but video playback doesn't work even running mplayer.

I resolved the issue!! :)

Open gnome-mplayer,
Edit --> Preferences
In the first tab, on Video output remove "vaapi"

Then it will work! :)

Thanks a lot, this fix works!

Is this turned on by default? If it is, I think it should be turned off.

Actually I don't know. Also if you open the preferences again, you'll see the setting "vaapi" again :P
