Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Natty Narwhal.

Changed in cutecom (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete
status: Incomplete → Fix Released

I know that Natty Narwhal include the last update from debian who as fixed this bug.
But why not include it as a bug fix in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" ? The Long Term Support mean security fix and bug fix, isn't it ? (it's a real question, I can't find answer : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTS is unclear about bug fixing in LTS).
At work we use only LTS version (and we use cutecom a lot for debugging embedded device), it's the first time that we see a repeatable bug in ubuntu software version so I was thinking that a bug fix is a solution.
Sorry for my poor english

This bug isn't really important (like a security bug) to be included in SRU: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

But you can request for a backport: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports

LTS Desktop Versions: 3 years of *security updates* (and 5 years on Ubuntu Server).

Normal versions have 18 months of *security updates*.

Gook luck!

OK, now I understand.
Thanks for the time you take to explain me the LTS bug policy.
