Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

While on smaller displays, having app menus in the global menu works out well, on larger displays this is proving to be a bit unhandy and most likely will not be generally well received.

Atm it's quite simple to adjust on a per app basis whether to use the global menu or not though clearly a config tool would be better.
This though is not an ideal solution, (if a 'solution' is even considered needed), if it's is possible at some point to set to - maximized - use global
unmaxed -keep in app
that would work out well for all users

It would also somewhat account for the possibility of some apps having missing menu options when it's menus are in the global menu

While I disagree with the premise of this bug report, it is not a duplicate of bug 682788. The "Desired change" described there does not distinguish between maximized and unmaximized windows at all.

Honestly myself don't really care one way or the other anymore. It's easy to disable global menus on a per app basis where appropriate/desired.
Also there are changes planned that could satisfy those that wanted this or any of the other scenarios mentioned elsewhere , so this bug could just as well be invalidated & forgotten

I'll mark it the duplicate, as you say :)
