Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

In Ubuntu Natty 11.04 64-bit, installed from the Alpha 2 and all updates installed, Compiz randomly crashes. The windows are then still there, but without the borders. Also, unity is gone. Compiz version is 1:0.9.2.1+glibmainloop4-0ubuntu9.
I am using the Asus UL30Jt laptop, and I'm using the integrated Intel graphics on the Core i5 520UM (I disabled the nvidia graphics with the acpi_call module). It looks like it's crashing only when I open up a new window / start an application, but I'm not really sure about that.
I made a desktop shortcut with "compiz --replace" to start compiz again when it's crashed.

Looks a lot like this is fixed with the updates of February 23th. Had only one crash since.

Nope, it will still randomly crash when opening windows/menues.
It seems to bee an issue with the compiz regex plugin. Disabling it will stop the crashes.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This bug is too broad, sadly, to be included to be a bug. We need narrowed, automated crash reports. Please open a new bug with 'ubuntu-bug compiz' if it can be reproduced and described well.

Thanks!
