Bug Description

I'm alphatesting testing natty 11.04 desktop i386 for you (updated daily)

As new feature something maximus all program windows to full desktop screen resolution. First i disabled maximus in autostart, did not help. Then i deinstalled the maximus package, did not help. All program windows are maximized to fullscreen at start. Where can i disable this ugly behaviour?
Since unity will be the next ubuntu standard desktop, it should be possible to use programs in movable windows with bigger screen resolutions. Assume you work on QSXGA and every started program jumps directly in your face. The maximus effect MUST be detachable.

Deinstalling the maximus package won't help anymore since we've built maximus into unity. Currently we're tweaking the settings so that applications which start out at less than 75% of your screen resolution will not be auto-maximized, but for some applications it might be useful to look at different thresholds.

Didier can you look at this?

Two suggestions:

1. Do not hardcode the auto maximize value. Allow to change it in ccsm.
2. Use auto maximize by default, but permit that it be disabled in ccsm.

The plan is to detect if you are on a netbook or a desktop and to switch automaximize on and off depending an that (+ another option in ccsm to force one mode). So the request will be answered, just that we don't have the netbook/desktop infrastructure buit in unity yet :)

It's in another bug report, so marking this one as invalid to clean that up.

ok, I'll attach a patch here that lets disable this behaviour in the ccsm..
Should I add also the possibility of change the auto maximize value?

For me it is okay if i can switch the maximizer on / off or set a resolution from which on maximus did is disabled. I have an thinkpad with XGA that works well with maximus and a thinkpad with wxga+ that is ugly with maximized windows.
