Calc document contents vanished

Had last accessed, modified and saved a calc file (saved in XLS format) 2 days back. There was nothing abnormal in the whole operation that time. When I opened that file now, all content has vanished and the open sheet is titled "Untitled...". There is no recovery option either.

I opened, edited and saved another XLS format file just few minutes back and there is no problem with that.

Could you please attach the file to this report, to be able to check if the content was indeed lost? Of course, if it is confidential, you should not, then we will try to find another way to investigate the problem. Thank you.

Thank you for looking into this. The file is indeed confidential and
included some transaction details. I had a 2 month old backup and
entered the new data and saved the resulting spreadsheet in ODS format.

If this could be a clue, the abnormal thing that I notice is that the
saved file has the original name let's say "domains.xls" and a size of
1.5 KB (original size was around 500 KB). When the file is opened it is
blank (like a new spreadsheet) and the filename in title bar shows
"untitled...". Hope this observation might be of use.

If the file size has changed that much, than the document content was indeed lost, not just hidden, but that still doesn't help investigating. If you still have that 2 month old backup, please keep it, I'll try to find a solution on how to investigate, if you are willing to help with that. This is indeed a serious bug resulting in data loss, that should be fixed.
