Bug Description
Hi,
I'm having problems getting LIRC working on LMDE (32 bit). If I compare the difference with Linux Mint based on Ubuntu (latest version where LIRC works more or less "Out-of-the-Box"), there is a kernel module missing, ir-core.ko, which I guess is needed for LIRC. I eventually want to use LMDE to setup a media-center PC running freevo and tvtime as tv program, and a remote control to manage the thing. Compared with Ubuntu based Mint, tvtime seems to run smoother on LMDE as it seems to be less resource hungry on the hardware I'm using (a 1GHz P-III, so it's not the newest box). Another thing I like about LMDE is that it is a running release.
Now I could probably get LIRC running if I install it from scratch from the sources and compile the kernel modules, but that would probably mean that whenever a kernel update is delivered through apt, I would have to build those modules again, and that would first be too much work, and it would make the running release part uninteresting.
Ikey,
Can you check this out? I don't deal much with IR and wonder if there is something patched in Ubuntu that Debian doesn't have.
Thanks
Justin
