Bug Description
Board is able to boot only if I specify in kernel boot option: 'irqpoll'.
Thereafter, lost interrrupts errors are reported and other "confused devices" messages are logged in dmesg.
The system seems to work, but not fully and certainly with significantly impacted performance.
A very detailed description (including dmesg outputs in vairous conditions) can be found in the following URL:

Notice that reduced performance is a workaround, not the real solution. I am dying to move away from Windows 2000 to Ubuntu Linux on this system (my main workstation). Unfortunately I cannot afford buying another system now.
Steps to repeat:
1. Build a PC based on the P4P800-E Deluxe motherboard with the following storage:
/dev/sda - 160GB HDD (master in the single channel in the Promise 20387 controller).
/dev/hda - DVDRW (master in 1st IDE channel on Intel's ICH5R)
/dev/hdb - CDRW (slave in 1st IDE channel on Intel's ICH5R)
/dev/hdc - DVDR (master in 2nd IDE channel on Intel's ICH5R)
2. Attempt to run the Ubuntu 6.0.6 live CD on it.
3. It will fail soon after the welcome screen.
4. Specify the 'irqpoll' kernel option boot and try again.
5. This time it will succeed. Click the 'Install to HDD' desktop icon. It will install successfully.
6. Reboot. The system will come up, but with the sluggish performance and the dmesg indicating the causes for the error(s).
Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
