Bug Description

Binary package hint: iso-scan

I tried to do a hard disk iso install using the images here:
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/edgy/main/installer-i386/current/images/hd-media/

It fails at the "Locate ISO in hard drive" step. I have the edgy 6.10 iso in root directory where the kernel image is and also a copy of the iso in an ext3 partition.

However, when I replace the kernel image(vmlinuz) with that of breezy, it detects the iso. (Of course the install didn't proceed because of mis-matching kernels)

So isn't this a bug in the newer iso-scan?

seems that the mount command (called from the installer script) is unable to attach a loop device to the iso image. At one point in my testing I tried to mount the iso manually from a shell and mount was unsuccessful. I thought that losetup needed to be added to the installer initrd, however, that was not helpful either. I'm not familiar with how mount creates loopback filesystems and I was running out of time for testing so I reverted to using dapper which worked.
