I surmise that I have Amarok running invisibly in the tray.

That would at least explain the bug title.

I deleted many, and installed many other, packages; and then Ubuntu notified
me that Amarok "was no more" = had stopped.

I appended the crash notes file and emailed y'all like I did the last two
times.

Thanks for the info, now I have a better understanding of what happened. If it was a one-time crash, and it works just fine now, then I think we can close the bug. Does it still crash for you?
