Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

I zsynced the natty daily-live iso and booted it on the original asus eee pc 701. I tried Try Ubuntu but got red lines at the top of the screen and the system froze. I then rebooted and clicked Install Ubuntu. While in the partitioning screen of the installer the screen went blank for a while and I arrived at a desktop screen. I found the monitor applet in applications and was trying to increase the resolution of my AOC lcd.

Todays daily live cd seems better. The first time I booted it put up a popup asking me to use Classic Desktop due to missing drivers. Later when I booted again I clicked try ubuntu and the system freezes with the red lines but then a new desktop appears after a minute or so. I then clicked logout and chose ubuntu classic (no effects). When I ran monitor applet under preferences no crashes happened and I was able to resize by AOC lcd to 1440 by 900. However (expired) bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/441850 still applies. I cannot get full 1920 by 1080 resolution with the AOC monitor in either maverick or natty. Kernel mode setting does not work in the eee pc.
