Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.19-5-generic

Kernel panic while booting linux-image-2.6.19-5-generic.
Feisty Fawn on VMware Server.
Attached a screenshot from the bootup process.

Lack of information regarding the system this is being experienced on.

Please provide detailed description of hardware, aswell as details about what the system was doing when this happened (before mounting initramfs, after, while loading modules, mounting the rootfs, etc?).

I'd like to confirm the same behaviour. Running VMware on AMD64 Edgy, used a fresh debootstrap of the feisty sources, built from a Knoppix bootdisk iso. Hardware is (VMware host) Intel EM64T 2.8Ghz DualCore, 1Gb RAM.

Why not use the last generic kenel(2.6.19-7-generic), instead of this old?

2.6.19-7 is affected too. I think it is a VMware issue rather than a kernel one.

This does not show up in 2.6.19-7-386 kernel, but there is something wrong with ata drivers..
