Bug Description

How to reproduce.

1) Create a file and insert following text:

"line without preceding spaces
<space><space><space>line with preceding spaced" (replace <space> with ' ')

2) change permissions of file to read-only
3) put cursor on line 1 and press enter: nothing should happen
4) put cursor on line 2 and press enter: a newline will appear

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 and gedit version 2.30.3
