Brad, can you make this new page as a new widget for the site. Just make separate, we will make this the new main page of ppl.

We don't think there is a switch for is_public or something for the people at present, so a mockup is better than nothing.

Next step is to figure out how to make it functional.

Right now, all profiles are private on ppl, and the goal is for the owner to make ones he wants public, and then they will show up in that list.

steps to kill:

1.) make mockup version
2.) figure out how to add the public flag to profiles and/or create that by liaising with christopher about
3.) make it fully functional, all public pages on the installation should be visible on this index.

done.

I believe this is taken care of now, as far as functionality goes. All private profile pages (displaying on /private/userid) have an editable field, just below the username heading, that successfully changes a profile from private to public & vice verse. As soon as a profile is made public, it appears on the /people page, so all owners' publicly viewable profiles are combined & listed alphabetically on this page. If a public profile switches back to private, the name is removed from the listing.

Christopher was having some issues with the /people page displaying every one of his contacts, when he was logged in under his username (everything displayed normally when signed out), so he is looking into that, but that's potentially another bug involving the contact import.
