Bug Description
When I boot 2.6.17-generic my laptop hangs at about 20% in usplash. If I use the recovery kernel it says CPU#0 soft lockup right after fsck.
I use dual boot and WinXP works fine. Edgy will boot ok (most of the time) if I boot WinXP first and then reboot and start Edgy. If I cold boot directly into Edgy it will hang, but sometimes it works if I do 4-5 cold boots (I tend to give up at that point).
The system is an Acer Travelmate 8202 with a dual core CPU.
I have no other problems with Edgy or WinXP. After bootup everything seems to be working fine.
