Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.

Rolf, have you enabled the checkbox to remember running applications on logout via system > settings > sessions > session options?

In my case, enabling the checkbox to remember running applications on logout, opening gnucash, logging out and logging in does not start gnucash. Even adding gnucash to the sessions startup programs does not start gnucash at login. I get no error message.

The error message is no longer displayed in a dialog.

This is logged to ~/.xsession-errors:

* 20:30:31 WARN <gnc.bin> Error parsing command line arguments: [Unknown option --sm-config-prefix]; try `gnucash --help` for available options.
