Bug Description

The quick resolution change special-key-combinations, e.g. Ctrl+Alt+Keypad-Plus and Ctrl+Alt+Keypad-Minus seem to have stopped working since I upgraded to Edgy, this is despite the fact that multiple resolution are properly configured in xorg.conf, in fact, running xvidtune -next can still switch the resolution just fine.

Looking more into this, it seems that X still treats this combinations as special, e.g. they do not generate events on "xev" which means they are captured by X and not propagated to the user processes.

I suspected the commercial Nvidia driver for causing this but this seems to occur with the free "nv" driver as well.

I have the same problem on three totally different installations. The problem is not video related. It is related to keyboard handling.

I researched this and found the same bug report was submitted to Debian (Bug#391052). They fixed this problem in xorg-server 2:1.1.1-10

I do not know when ubuntu will incorporate this fix into their releases. I hope they do it soon. It really bugs me. :-)

Thanks for reporting the bug. Xorg has reported this fixed as of xserver 1.3, which is now available in Gutsy. So in theory the issue should be resolved. If you could, test it in Gutsy and verify; if it's still a problem please reopen the bug and we'll take a deeper look.
