Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

Under Unity, certain applications get "lost" when minimised
Example below uses gpodder, but probably affects other applications as well

1. Launch gpodder
- gpodder window visible
- gpodder icon present in unity dock
- gpodder present in Alt-Tab window switcher

2. Minimise gpodder
- gpodder window minimised (not visible)
- gpodder icon removed from unity dock
- gpodder not present in Alt-Tab switcher

3. Seemingly no way to select the window to unminimise

4. Only way to bring gpodder back is to launch the application a second time
(this brings the original window back to focus)
- gpodder window visible
- gpodder icon present in unity dock
- gpodder present in Alt-Tab window switcher

That probably happens because gPodder uses a tray icon if you minimize it, and the tray should not be used. The same thing happens with skype, and it would be nice to have a workaround, or even better, a solution, because with skype you can't even star a new instance, because it says that another skype instance is running, the only problem is that you can't access that instance.

skype is whitelisted already so marked invalid, as for Unity, Ubuntu have decided to end the systray it won't be supported anymore, it was announced quite a while ago that apps need to adapt. So I am marking the bug of unity as invalid.
