Bug Description
Binary package hint: postgresql-8.4
Just trying to upgrade my software to Lucid from Karmic, but get an error with the 8.4 installation. It reads:
E: postgresql-8.4: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
E: postgresql: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Part of the issue may be that I have everything from 8.2 to 8.4 installed on the system. Here are some notes I took when I had Karmic about transition issues:
#Current version is 8.4, but you have data in 8.3 and are running the survey system on the desktop off 8.3. Once you updated to karmic, it had erased 8.3 executables but left enough of 8.3 to make it look like it was still there. To access your data and run 8.3 you needed to use this: sudo apt-get install postgresql-8.3. To upgrade from 8.3 to 8.4, need to look here: pg_upgradecluster (see manpage) also Please see /usr/share/
