Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I've downloaded natty to a usb and tried to A) install to a Dell Mini 9 and it just hangs on the first screen you see where it asks you to plug in your machine to internet and power supply. I've left it here for 2 hours twice now and nothing happens.

B) I've clicked on the option to Try Ubuntu and from there install, and the same thing happens, this time I've unity launched, but when you click on install same screen pops up and I click install but it sits here and doesn't do anything.

Thanks for sending this in Laura. Looking at the logs, it's not clear what's going wrong. Given your description this is likely to be a problem in either jockey (which the installer calls if you check the "use third-party software"), or partman, the partitioning backend.

Are you checked the "use third-party software" box? Does the bug still occur if you do not check it? If it does not, what is the result of running `sudo jockey-text -a` in a fresh live CD session?

If the bug does still occur regardless of whether or not that box is checked, can you please run the install manually from the live CD desktop in debug mode. To do this, click "Try Install" from the first installer screen, then open a terminal and type `ubiquity -d`. When the installer hangs, run `apport-collect 703552`.

Thanks!

I just had the same problem and followed the instructions left by Evan in the first comment. Tired to install the current daily natty build three times here from today download. Keep getting the same failure when trying to install from the live USB. Tired both Install Now and Try Ubuntu and install from desktop. I am using zsync to capture the current daily build and will try again in a few days. I signed in as this bug affects me but if needed I will create a new one.
