can not post comments or start new threads. site is very slow

Bug Description
The site has been getting slower and slower over the last week, and now I can not start threads or post comments. When I try to, I get:
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /newreply.php.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
Apache/2.2.8 (Ubuntu) Server at ubuntuforums.org Port 80
after about 1 minute of waiting. I have tried different browsers, same issue. I am reporting this bug here because I couldn't start a thread about it in the forums.

I appreciate you starting the bug here because you were unable to create a thread on the forum, and we are aware of the issues, however, we are unable to track it via Launchpad.
