Bug Description

When the backtick character appears in the track title, streamripper prints messages like this: [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ] [ripping... ]

instead of the expected line. Also filenames get corrupt (there's no artist, but the artist appears in the track name).

I've not tested it myself (where can I find a stream with backticks?) but it sound plausible.

Could you please confirm which version of streamripper you are using?

Thanks for the additional info, Sven. I set the ubuntu streamripper to that stream, and got your symptoms on the track 'Lhind - Världen Utanför (Dreamfactory Radio Mix)'. No backticks, but looks like something hurt streamripper.

When I took the problem upstream, the reply was "Try using 1.62-beta-2, that version handles string conversions differently than 1.61 series, and might solve your problem."

I've just installed 1.62-beta-2, and I'm now running it on that stream. It's working well so far......
