grub fails upgrade to edgy from dapper

Bug Description

grub failed when updating from dapper to edgy, could not mount the root fs during boot up. could be the 50 digit names instead of using /dev/hda1

Is this the same installation you referred to in bug #70243?

You installed over the top of a previous installation?
