Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager

Hi there,

I'm trying to get up an AdHoc Wireless LAN between my Laptop and an Epson (Wireless)Printer.
Therefore i'm using network-manager together with network-manager-gnome

Short summary: Networkmanager just crashes and is not able to set up a adhoc network.

More details:

Using driver iwlagn

1. right klick on nm-applet tray icon
2. select "Create new network" (or equivalent)
3. selecting "MyNetwork"
4. OK
5. Tries to connect, but only shows stupid dialog
6. OK
7. nm-applet is gone

Properties of "MyNetwork":

Mode -> AdHoc
Security -> WPA & WPA2 Personal
Key -> *******
IPv4 -> (doesn't matter, I tried all of them)
IPv6 -> ignore

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 amd64

Tell me what I can do to help you further!

Greetings.

I don'T get this "stupid dialog" each time. But I can't create a adhoc network either. Also iwlagn. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 (but tried Ubuntu 10.10 live, too.)

For the log I have configured an ad-hoc network. The network allways started to connect and then was disconnected. And then connected again, and so on until the nm-applet crashed.

Reinstalling the system worked for me, but others still can't connect to my ad-hoc network.

I am able to create an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network, but I have the iwlwifi driver.

Do you still encounter this bug with Ubuntu 12.04?

Changed in network-manager (Ubuntu):
