Bug Description

Hello,
i tried booting Ubuntu 10.10 desktop- and server-edition and 11.04 Alpha 1 server x64 but every time during bootup in liveCD or with an installed system i get a kernel panic during bootup. I was unable to create logfiles so I atached a screenshot of the stack trace.

The problem appears using this server TYAN GT14B8005 (B8005G14V2-LE) http://www.tyan.com/product_SKU_spec.aspx?ProductType=BB&pid=408&SKU=600000134.

I also blacklisted following modules (/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf), because they are mentioned in the stack trace: snd_hda_queue_unsol_event, snd_hda_intel, snd_hda_codec but it doesn't solved the problem :(

I hope someone can help me with this, thanks.

Greets

I finally was able to find a Ubuntu-version which successfully starts: Ubuntu 7.10 x64 Desktop (Kernel 2.6.22). I'm trying to upgrade to newer kernel versions so i can estimate at which point the regression bug appears.

Now I've upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS using the same kernel version (2.6.22-14-generic) and it works! Now i was able to tar the log-directory. Grep'ing through it with the search term "hda" shows some errors relating to this kernel panic.

I was able to upgrade to the newest Ubuntu version (10.10) and sometimes i was able to boot the newest kernel (the one of 10.10) but suddenly the kernel panic reapears :(
Unfortunately i'm not able to boot older kernel versions prior 2.6.30 because udev or initramfs is not able to mount the root-filesystem.
Well, i really must use a newer kernel version to get my ethernet working ... what should i do now?
If I compile the kernel myself, which modules do i have to remove?

While using Ubuntu 7.10 x64 Desktop (Kernel 2.6.22), i downloaded 2.6.37 from kernel.org and disabled all sound device modules with "make menuconfig". After compiling and installing i upgraded to the newest Ubuntu version and successfully rebooted into the new kernel without any kernel panics!
I'll try to find the exact module which causes this error.
