Bug Description

In order to validate:

Click on the Main Menu, (preferably Main Menu, not the Menu bar, where you have Applications, Places and System in the different menus)
Make sure that you have a small screen. (Like a netbook screen)
Open one of our menus that is long enough that it has to be scrolled. My System -- Preferences menu is long enough.
Use the small downwards arrow to browse through the menu. Or scroll down with mouse wheel.
When you move your pointer away to click one of them, the menu resets to its initial position.

Scrolling down with arrow keys work, though.

Ubuntu 10.04
Linux 2.6.36-999-generic i686 GNU/Linux

Thanks a lot for reporting this to us, however I am unable to reproduce the effect you described. I followed the steps you described, but rather than using a small screen I reduced the resolution of my current screen. Can you verify that this is not a defect arising from some flaw or eccentricity in your own setup? You can get help at http://askubuntu.com and http://ubuntuforums.org.

Changing the skin from Appearance got it back to normal.
When I return back to Ambiance, it is okay now.

Well, it happens to me too. I'm using Ambiance. I'm using a netbook (Acer Aspire One D260) with no eccentric setup. I'll attach a screencap.

Lyrae, that's exactly what I tried to report, and the problem revived after a while for me also. Changing the skin doesn't help either right now, sorry that I can't be more specific about my setup.

My machine is a netbook (Asus eeepc T101) with no graphic acceleration.
I also observer the same problem with my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520) with Ubuntu 10.04, which has a messy configuration though.

How can I give more feedback for this kind of problem? I would be glad to do that.

What version's of Ubuntu are people using? I notice this is reported against 10.04, and I am using 10.10, which may be why I don't experience it.

I experience it with both, actually.

Marking as invalid for the paper cuts project since this is not a small usability flaw present in all default installations of Ubuntu, rather it is a simple bug that needs fixed.

Well, I don't know which update it came in, but in the last couple of days it started working correctly. Thanks so much to all concerned! It's exciting to see the system at work.

Lyrae, it is not still working on my side.
But I noticed that when I had a problem with my GUI and I was reverted back to the default gnome skin, I had found the problem solved. Right now it is still malfunctioning as told.
