this is caused by conflicting third party software, nothing Ubuntu can do anything about:

update-alternatives: error: alternative link /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so is already managed by xulrunner-addons-flashplugin.
dpkg: error processing flashplugin-installer (--configure):
 subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of flashplugin-nonfree:
 flashplugin-nonfree depends on flashplugin-installer; however:
  Package flashplugin-installer is not configured yet.

This is arguably the fault of the other package xulrunner-addons-flashplugin. But it seems to be a common problem and therefore I suggest for the Ubuntu package to add a runtime conflict so that these two packages cannot be installed at the same time.

That distro have reached EOL since a while; and such problem has been resolved long time ago.
