Since you're on i686, /usr/lib32 packages aren't relevant. But it's weird that it's displaying those warnings, perhaps update-alternatives is doing something inappropriate.
Looking through the source code, my guess is it has something to do with the code Alberto recently added for cleaning up diversions.
@Alberto, mind taking a look at this when you get a chance? Maybe the rules just need to test for lib32 beforehand.
