Hi,
Have you use the zoom bar ?
what is the format of your file in input ?
Could you put the output after launching Openshot in the console ?
Thanks.

-it happens with all files I load, it is not dependent on the filetype. Only on the project length. I can use the same clips witjout problems if I create a shorter timeline.

My theory is that you create a single bitmap/window/widget (I didn't look into the code) to contain the entire timeline and that the bitmap simply gets too wide when I create a timeline that long. Maybe something with max texture sizes? This is just a wild guess though ;-)

A lot of work have been done on the timeline, zoom bar, .......
Could you test the development version (1.3.0-alpha) and report us if you have always the same problem ?
More explanation how to process here : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=540
Thanks.
