Empathy sends a second notification after I open the conversation window

When I receive a notification of a new Empathy message and click on its entry on the messaging menu to open the conversation window, Empathy sends a second, duplicate notification. This is easy to notice when you open the conversation window before the bubble fades out, because then the second notification is merged with the first one and the duplication becomes obvious.

This bug will not happen if the conversation window is already opened, but will happen regardless if I'm using the messaging menu or the traditional tray icon.
