Bug Description
Binary package hint: language-selector
The explanation text is "Display numbers, dates and currency amounts in the usual format for:"
But selecting a different item in the list changes not only the format, but also the language. Which is something completely different.
As a result I'm forced to use nonsense format settings and foreign currency unless I want broken Norwegian translations showing up everywhere (even though I selected english language).

I can confirm that what you describe may well happen. I'm also glad to say that the issue has been fixed. The fixes have been released in Natty, and fixed packages for Lucid and Maverick are available at https:/ /launchpad. net/~gunnarhj/ +archive/ locale- test. I mark this report as a duplicate of bug 553162.
