Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

Might be a duplicate of Bug #697275, Bug #401034, Bug #319113 or Bug #321439.

Like in Bug #697275, I did nothing special except viewing pdf files downloaded from the Internet with Firefox or opened from Thunderbird.

Thank you for reporting this issue. Can you answer the following questions, please:

* How can I reproduce this, please give me the exact steps. Do I attempt opeing a pdf in firefox or thunderbird or evince?
* Is it possible to attach the pdf file which caused the error as an attachment below?

Thank you for helping improve Xubuntu.

Happened to me when I was compiling the pdf with pdflatex in Texmaker.
The pdf was already open in Evince..and usually the view refreshes automatically when the file has changed.
Only this time it crashed.
I have not been able to reproduce it yet..

cheers.

Charlie: No, I can't reliably reproduce this, and I can't give clear information on what I was doing to cause the crash. There were several opened pdf files (like the one here: http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/c142_20.html I don't know exactly which, directly opened from Firefox) and when I switched back to evince from another application, evince crashed. That might confirm what Chrescht guesses about the automatic refreshing of displayed pdf files.

I don't know if under these circumstances you'll want to keep the bug report open.

Thanks for your response. This bug does appear to have a valid stacktrace, so let's see if there is enough information for the developers to work the issue. I am marking it confirmed, with the developers aware that it can not be reproduced reliably.

I have just had this error while opening some pdf files from Firefox. One of them (http://www.docv.gva.es/datos/2010/09/06/pdf/2010_9553.pdf) has crashed evince. Nonetheless, once I have tried again it has opened the file without problems. So, the error hasn't reproduced.

In kern.log I get:
