Bug Description

In version 5 you could assign Inventory Loss account to Inventory Loss location and during Periodical Inventory you could have proper accounting moves. Similar problem is in Production. In v 6 I cannot find any place for configuring such account. And during Periodical Inventory and Production I get accounting moves like it was usual stock move from purchase or sales. Instead of account of Inventory Loss or Material Consumed I see that accounting moves behaviours like it was sales. I cannot imagine changing Stock Input Account and Stock Output Account for time of Periodical Inventory or Production process and switch them back after that.. Have I miss something?

If it is bug I suggest to add In Product and Product Category additional fields used in Periodical Inventory and Production accounting.

The fields should be:

Periodical Inventory Loss Account (or Inventory Loss Account)
Periodical Inventory Recovery Account (or Inventory Recovery Account)
and
Material Consumption Account
Cost of Finished Products Account

In my country there should be these two separate pairs of accounts.

It occurs when you use Real Time Inventory Valuation in Product.

You are right, this is due to the fact that all inventory valuation accounts have been changed to be product[category]-wise, and not location-wise anymore. It makes your use case difficult indeed, so we should add something to support dedicated accounts for physical inventories, production, etc.

Your suggestion to add pairs of properties on Products would work indeed, but it means we have to duplicate the properties for all specific location types (Production, Inventory, but perhaps Procurement too?). And as the input and output accounts are the same, it is perhaps more flexible to set them on the stock location again, as it was in v5.

By changing the valuation system to pick the accounts on the product, _unless_ one is set on the location, we would have the best of both worlds. If we put the appropriate tooltips/help on the stock location and product form, it should be flexible and sufficiently user-friendly...

I am assigning this to the responsible R&D team for resolution.

Thanks for reporting!

It means that problem will be solved. Otherwise it would be regression.

But I am not glad so much with this solution because it doesn't solve my localization (or maybe other countries) problem.

The problem is that ESPECIALLY for Periodical Inventory and for Production we (in my country) need two separate accounts for Inventory location (Inventory Loss account and Inventory Recovery account), and separate two accounts for Production location (Material consumption account and Production cost account). So for that locations (Inventory Loss and Production) input and output accounts are not the same (in my country).

We of course don't need separate input and output accounts for physical locations.

I hoped that when they are in product definition now (in 6.0) it would be no problem to add them as I described. When you decide to have them assigned to location they will work probably the same manner as in version 5. It means that I will have to make localisation changes.

If my country is an exception it is ok but maybe we can make some survey for it. Can we ask R&D team for that?

Some history to illustrate the problem: Some months ago Ferdinand has asked to remove account fields in Product category. He said that Expense Account is the same as Stock Input Account and Income Account is the same as Stock Output Account. Maybe for many countries they are the same but not for Poland. I have made objection that time and OpenERP developers left these fields separated. So in this case I don't need to code localisation.

So I vote for one of solution:
- 4 accounts in product and product category as described in my bug report.
or
- if you reinclude accounts to location I vote for two accounts per location - Incoming and Outgoing.

When there should be the same the person configuring system will enter the same account to both fields.

I think you would accept my request as you have to develop it anyway. I hope some other countries will be happy too.

Thank you.
