Hi Nikola,
Can you get this crash to happen on a simple sheet that you can add to this bug, or does it only happen on one specific spreadsheet ?

Hi Nikola,
I've tried the actions you described and they don't cause a crash (or high memory usage) on my machine. However I'm using the development version of Ubuntu Natty, so a newer version than you have. Perhaps either you can try it to see if it fixes the problem, or someone else subscribing to this can try it on Maverick to see if they can repeat it.
