import from folder does not import files to music folder, fails on removable disks

Binary package hint: banshee

When importing, most options, such as import from media player or CD, actually copy the files over. Import from folders doesn't do this. Moreover, when you import files from a removable disk, remove that disk, then rescan music library, banshee will lock up. While the choice to not always copy over is understandable, this means there's no way to easily copy over and organize files, having to rely on other tools instead, nor is it consistent with the phrasing and other uses of the import function.

Please could you run in a terminal "banshee --debug" and attach all the output information (following your steps to reproduce this issue), Thanks.

steps:
1) open banshee
2) attach removable drive
3) Media->Import Media
4) Import from: Folders
5) navigate to the folder
6) import
7) Tools>rescan music library

Have you tried to reproduce this issue using latest release available in the daily ppa repository (1.9.2)?if not, please could you try it? Thanks

wdesmet any progress about this issue? there is a new release of banshee 1.9.6 in Natty that fixes lot of problems.

Sorry this got a bit waylaid. It's fixed in the PPA version of banshee (2.0.0). I'm not entirely sure how I pull the package from natty without pulling in too much other stuff.
