Bug Description

I tried exporting one of my videos in Ogg theora/vorbis format to see if it would work. Surprise, it doesn't.

This time there are at least 2 issues:
 - Most clips have each image row offset to right their Y-value. Resulting image has a 45 degree \ line with right part of image on left and left part on right, distorted.
 - Colors are way off - most of the image looks black & white but for example red is purple and green is green.

Tested with 1.2.2 binary release on Ubuntu 10.10.

Hi and sorry for the delay,
It seems that you have a problem with your version of MLT. You should update it with the last version (0.6.0) that you can find here : https://launchpad.net/~sunab/+archive/sunab2. I am nearly sure that will resolve your display problem.
Thanks.

I guess you mean libmlt wit mlt. Currently i have installed libmlt1 0.4.4-2build1 which is tha latest version.

The repo also offers libmlt2 0.6.0 which is not currently installed at all. If this is the problem, i think openshot should detect that the major version of libmlt is wrong and warn user. This is otherwise very difficult to spot.

Trying to install libmlt2 would remove openshot:

$ sudo aptitude install libmlt2
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libmlt2{b}
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  hplip-cups{u} x11proto-xf86misc-dev{u}
0 packages upgraded, 1 newly installed, 2 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
Need to get 370kB of archives. After unpacking 524kB will be freed.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libmlt2: Conflicts: libmlt1 but 0.4.4-2build1 is installed.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

     Remove the following packages:
1) libmlt++2
2) libmlt1
3) melt
4) openshot
5) python-mlt

Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?]

After not accepting the solution 2 times, aptitude finally suggested to remove libmlt1 and install libmlt2 while keeping openshot. Synaptic couldn't do this.

Maybe there should be better instructions at the install page, as clearly just adding the PPA won't be enough.

After installing the packages i tried again exporting the video. This time both OpenShot and Export video turned gray and never recovered. I had to force quit. Exporting as mpeg was successful.

For me, trust your package manager adding the PPA , update it and update melt. It will say you exactly what he must do for update the software.

Up till now, Openshot hasn't needed a specific version of MLT to function, but the more recent version you have, the better results you will get. In v1.3, certain features require v0.6.0 of MLT. Ogg support will also depend on your version of ffmpeg.
