Bug Description

Hi, I'Ve recently upgraded my sisters netbook from 10.04 to 10.10, which gave her the latest unity.
However it's kinda slow she's very pleasant by it, BUT

as nautilus seems to be fully replaced we didn't find a way to connect to a SMB share like in
https://answers.launchpad.net/netbook-remix/+question/115087

we've used SMB shares earlier via the places menu and have an entry in the bookmarks section of the unity files and folders page.
However we get nothing if clicking on it, and we don't find a way to connect to new SMB shares.

Hi

In fact, Nautilus is back on Natty. The files place is mostly to quickly access files that are /already/ part of your filesystem, and provide something simpler than a full file manager. Now we recognize the need to have a complete solution, including one that can manage network filesystems like samba. So Nautilus is back for Natty and probably will stay in cases where you need access to something more complex than the local disk or a thumb drive.

Hi,

I found Nautilus in 10.10 Netbook edition (running unity) by clicking "Applications" then clicking "Terminal". At the prompt type:

nautilus

Once Nautilus has opened, right click on its icon in the launcher and select "Keep in Launcher" so it is there for next time.

Hope this helps.

"nautilus" is back in natty - guess this means it will be available in the applications tab directly - but mikedev thanks for you workaround, that's appx. the same what I told my sister a few weeks ago as she needed to access this share running maverick :-)

@david - why don't you integrate .gvfs into the unity file manager ? setting up would be something else, but adding the gvfs directorys to the top list of directorys would beperfect for that -- you could even auto import this dir which might include USB thumb drives as well.
