Its in Applications> Internet category if its not then you or someone else definitely hide it from the applications menu. you can bring it back by right clicking on the applications menu in the top panel and select 'edit menus' then a window will popup there select 'Internet' and see if Gwibber and Empathy are unticked. if they are not present at all you can add new launchers for both these applications. please try and see if that helps you and let us know.
